On August 21, the Seminar on Lanmei Bamboo Resources Utilization, Market Potential and Industrial Development was held in Yangon, Myanmar. The seminar was sponsored by the Research and Innovation Department (DRI) of the Ministry of Education of Myanmar and supported by the Lancang-Mekong Special Fund for Cooperation in 2018. The seminar aims to develop the bamboo industry in the Mekong region. Chinese experts and representatives of the Mekong region share their experience in bamboo processing technology and knowledge in order to support the sustainable development and policy of the bamboo industry, contribute to the cultivation and management of bamboo resources, disseminate market information and innovative research and development of bamboo products.

       Win Khaing Moe, Director-General of Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Education of Myanmar, Yang Shouzheng, Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, Lu Civilization, Deputy Director-General of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization,Daw Aye San, member of the Lanmei Coordination Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bamboo and Rattan Entrepreneurs Association of Myanmar and representatives of Lanmei Member States attended the opening ceremony.

       Huang Wenrong, deputy general manager of Yunnan Innovative Bio-industry Incubator, was invited to attend the seminar and met with Phyu Phyu Win, deputy director of the Research and Innovation Department of the Ministry of Education of Myanmar. The two sides exchanged views on cooperation in International Incubator construction, training of small and medium-sized enterprises and construction of science and technology parks.
